5 things...ways to reveal your baby's gender
Congratulations you're expecting a new little bundle of joy. You don't care whether you have a boy or a girl as long as it's healthy...but why not have some fun with it anyway! Here's 5 ways you can share the news after your 20 week scan.
1. Let them eat cake
If your hospital or healthcare provider will write the sex of your baby on a piece of paper for you without telling you what it is (some will, some wont), you can hand the precious note to your local baker and ask for a batch of cupcakes with special filling blue for a boy, pink for a girl is traditional and then you can share them with family and friends.
2. Baby balloons
Ask a decorating or events shop to fill some balloons with pink or blue confetti which you can pop to find out whether your little one is a boy or girl. This is a great one to do at a photo shoot with your family as you all jump about popping balloons to find out!
3. Best friends
If your hospital or healthcare provider won't go through the bother of writing down the sex for you, they might agree to tell only one of the people in the room - take a trusted friend a long and make them part of your cunning plan. You're friend can help you plan any number of surprises.
4. Teddy bear baby
If you've gone the best friend route, one option is for your friend to go to the Bear Factory or a similar shop and make a bear to tell you whether you're having a boy or girl. They can set the birth date as baby's due date and can even include a personal message and a beating heart. A perfect present for you which baby will soon adopt, and a very sweet story to tell your little one when they're older.
5. Have grandma and grandad do it
Grandparents have a special place in all our hearts. They've had their children and now they can enjoy spoiling their grandchildren. Grandma and grandad can do a fantastic gender reveal - you might need to talk them through the idea but they might be able to use a family heirloom or tradition, or a favourite family location as part of the surprise. It's also a nice way of involving them and another story to tell you baby when they're older.
So there it is 5 ways to reveal the gender of your baby...if you can wait long enough for the surprise.
